about us

our story

Auchrannie was acquired by the Johnston Family in 1988 with a view to providing indoor leisure facilities on the island.  In the process of achieving this objective, Auchrannie has grown from a 16 bedroom guest house to a resort now comprising two 4 star hotels with 64 rooms, thirty 5 star self-catering luxury lodges, three iconic restaurants, a shop, two leisure clubs with pools and a childrens 'Playbarn'.  Auchrannie remains under the ownership of the Johnston family who continue to play an active role in the business.

our people

Iain Johnston MBE is the majority shareholder and his dedication and vision have ensured the business is what it is today. Iain is now semi-retired but still consults on financial and future development aspects of the business.

Linda Johnston was part of the original team in 1988 and has undertaken most roles since then.  As Executive Director, Linda now takes a lead role in the business being involved in all aspects, particularly strategic, future and product development.  Unusually, for a resort of this size, Linda works full time on site, visits each department daily and still enjoys interaction with guests most of all.

Ronnie Mann is Auchrannie's Finance and Development Director.  Ronnie keeps us all on the financial straight and narrow and is an indispensable part of the "team of three" who have led every Auchrannie Project since 1988.

Richard Small is the General Manager of Auchrannie Resort, having worked his way up from the age of 14 as kitchen porter, he has held a number of positions within the business, taking on the role of General Manager in March 2007.  As well as being responsible for all aspects of the operation, Richard heads up the marketing team and is involved in future and product development.

David Johnston is the Assistant General Manager of the resort, and has many strings to his bow, including the responsibility for Human Resources, Recruitment, Training & Health & Safety.

During your stay our senior operations management team of Iain Hamilton (Food & Beverage), Pat I'anson (Front of House), Jillian Plenderleith (Recreations) and Janine Crisp (Auchrannie Lodges) along with their amazing staff will do their very best to make sure your visit exceeds your expectations.

charity

As well as being a major supporter of a number of island charities, Auchrannie fundraises annually for its 'charity of the year'. The charity is selected each year by the 'Auchrannie Buddies' and raises thousands of pounds for very deserving causes.

The 2012 charity of the year is 'Chloe's Chemoo Cows'. For more information and to help support this cause please visit their website.
