General Manager Richard Small this week spent his days off walking around Arran to raise awareness and funds for Auchrannie's charity of the year 'Children's Hospice Association Scotland' (CHAS).
It was all smiles at 6am on Tuesday morning (26th July) as Richard set off to take on the 57.4 mile around the island. He was joined on day one by a number of colleagues who stayed with him until the 20 mile mark just beyond Lochranza on the west coast of the island.
After reaching the 30 mile marker early on Tuesday evening, Richard grabbed a few hours rest before setting off on the final leg of the journey from Blackwaterfoot back to Auchrannie where he was cheered home, tired and emotional, just after mid-day on Wednesday.
Commenting after completing the walk, Richard said “myself and the others who joined me on day one are just glad to be able to offer our time and support to such a deserving cause. CHAS makes a real difference to the lives of countless children across Scotland. We know that by completing this walk the money raised will help support further the work that they do.”
Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is a charity that provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
CHAS was chosen as Auchrannie’s charity of choice following a ballot of our 'Auchrannie Buddies'.
