As an employee owned and operated business, we are passionate about our environmental committment and our social responsibilities to the wider community. We are also aware how much this means to many of our guests who continue to return to Auchrannie & Arran year after year.
AUCHRANNIE ENVIRONMENTAL PROMISE
• Auchrannie is committed to reducing the impact of our business on the environment and we will comply with environmental legislation as a minimum level of performance
• We’ll work with our team to identify and implement sustainable policies & practices
• We’ll work with our supplier partners to reduce their packaging and transport to the resort
• We’ll purchase fair trade and ethically sourced products wherever possible
• We’ll monitor utility consumption levels on a daily basis and aim to reduce it at every opportunity
• We’ll endeavour to purchase recycled goods whenever appropriate
• We’ll endeavour to use eco-friendly chemicals
RESPONSIBLE VISITOR CHARTER
At Auchrannie we are doing what we can to preserve and enhance our beautiful island. You can help us:
• Conserve energy – switch off lights and electrical appliances when not needed and close window when heating in on
• Give the car a rest – take a walk, hire a bike or use the local bus service
• Shop local – Arran has many fantastic local producers and unique shops
• Reduce, reuse & recycle – please dispose of any paper, plastic, glass, or cans in the recycle bins you find around the resort
• Be water-wise – don’t leave taps running and re-use towels where possible. All cold water supplies to bathroom sinks is drinkable and comes from the island artesian supply
• Respect our environment – look after the island and its wildlife by not littering and follow the Countryside code
SUSTAINABILITY
Auchrannie has been affiliated with Green Tourism since 2007 and currently hold their Silver award. We have also worked with Resource Efficient Scotland and Zero Waste Scotland to help improve our sustainability.
Over recent years we have implemented a number of actions to increase our sustainability:
• installation of biomass woodchip boilers to supply hot water to hotel, leisure & laundry facilities
• increased recycling of glass, paper products, batteries and ink cartridges
• introduction of filtered kitchen fryers to reduce oil usage by 50% - waste oil is recycled through a licensed contractor
• low energy lighting throughout the resort
• controlled flow rates to taps & showers
• use of fair-trade products and sustainable, locally sourced food products
• support for local wildlife festival
• bird boxes onsite
• bike hire available onsite
• complimentary minibus collection from ferry
• information on local walking & cycling routes available
• paperless billing
• Auchrannie app to replace printed in-room information – ipads available to borrow
• installation of electric vehicle charging points
• removal of bottled water from bedrooms (all cold water supplies are potable)
• removal of single use plastic straws
• biodegradable takeaway food packaging
• use of InnuScience Ecolabel/Ecologo approved non-chemical cleaning products
• replacement of single use toiletries with stylish wall mounted units (in progress)
• use of Espa natural skincare products and Ishga sustainably harvested & organic seaweed products in our Aspa

COMMUNITY
As a proud Arran business which has grown here for 30 years, we recognise the invaluable support received from the local community and our responsibility to give back to the island.
