The BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE policy applies for all stays completed by 31st March 2025.

Every year 750,000 people travel to and from Arran by ferry. The overwhelming majority of those visitors experience no disruption to their journey. However, on occasion, weather or technical issues can cause issues.

At Auchrannie we want our guests to worry less about things not going quite to plan, ensuring when things don’t work out, we are there to support them. 

Our BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE policy outlines how our team will look after our guests if their journey to us or their journey back home is disrupted due to ferry issues. 


  • If a journey to Auchrannie is disrupted due to ferry cancellations, we’ll let guests cancel without penalty.
  • There will be NO charges for late cancellations
  • Where a guest is unable to travel with their car we will provide complimentary shuttle service to/from Brodick ferry terminal and the resort for their arrival/departure.
  • ANY deposits paid for an unused stay will be refunded within 7 days,
  • Any 3rd party vouchers used to book a stay will be extended(1) or refunded(2)
  • Any special offers booked will be honoured at a later date(1).



  • Should a confirmed ferry booking be cancelled on the homeward journey we have put in place measures to make the delay as comfortable as possible.
  • We’ll allow guests a complimentary late check-out where possible.
  • Our team will provide regular updates on the ferry status and advise guests of the compensation they are entitled to claim as a result of any delays and the process for making a claim.
  • We’ll provide any additional night's accommodation required (when available) FREE OF CHARGE(3)(4) to guests who stayed with us the night previous(5)(6)(7) and have a confirmed ferry booking for the day of the disruption and are unable to leave the island at any point that day as a result of weather disruption(4).



(1) Extension of 3rd party vouchers or honour of special offer rates may be subject to restrictions on dates. These will be communicated at the time of amendment.

(2) Refund of 3rd party vouchers is subject to the provider's terms and conditions; however, Auchrannie will offer assistance where required in making this possible.

(3) FREE OF CHARGE accommodation is on a room-only basis and excludes any meals. Housekeeping services will be on a request basis. It will be available to any guest who booked direct through the Auchrannie website, through the Auchrannie reservations department or through selected partner channels (e.g. ITISON, Kooble). Free of charge accommodation is not available when rooms have been booked via a 3rd party OTA (e.g., Expedia). Excludes Motorhome bookings. FREE ROOMS are subject to Auchrannie having availability to accommodate guests.

(4) Weather disruption only. In the event of technical or operational issues, Auchrannie will charge no more than the amount of compensation which can be claimed back from Calmac. The room type offered for the free nights(s) may differ from what was booked on the nights prior to the disruption. FREE ROOMS available when there are no available ferrys to allow guest to leave the island.

(5) A paid stay on a regular consumer rate. That is any rate with a nightly charge in excess of £1. Exclusions will include LODGE OWNERS, CORPORATE RATES, ANY ROOM ROUTED TO SALES LEDGER or FOC RATE (e.g. CHARITY VOUCHERS or COMPETITION WINNERS).

(6) The night booked previously must have been done so at least 72 hours in advance of arrival or prior to any announcement of disruption, whichever is greatest.

(7) The guest must not have had a previous booking for the night of disruption which was subsequently cancelled or amended less than 72 hours in advance or after any announcement of disruption had been made.
